2016 In Review

Holiday Party StyleHow has 2016 come and gone so quickly? It was an amazing year for us that was full of so many memories. 2015 was really focused on the birth of Noah and learning to balance it all. You can read more about what went on in 2015 in my post HERE.

2016 has really been a lot about the growth of my blog, and learning to juggle a lot of things at once. My blog has grown more this year than it ever has, and I finally took it full time. You can read more about how I accomplished that goal HERE. I also feel like I really have found my signature style in 2016. I’ve been called the “queen of cute basics”, the “queen of distressed denim,” and I’ve been told that I know how to find the cutest cozy clothes. I’ll take all three of those as a compliment!

JANUARY

In January I officially changed the name of my blog from Life In ATX to Life By Lee. This really helped me move my blog into the direction I wanted it to go in, and helped me to be able to dive into the content I wanted to write about. Noah turned one in January, and we celebrated with my parents in town.

FEBRUARY

In February Dylan had his first “appearance” on my blog, and soon after decided to start his own blog, and Instagram account. He’s doing an amazing job with it, and it’s really growing quickly. He finally got over his fear of the camera, and it’s a lot of fun to work with him on something that is such a passion of both of ours.

MARCH

In March we moved from a 2 bedroom apartment to a 4 bedroom house. We were so excited to have more space, and to be able to each have our own office! Noah also was quite excited to have more space to run around and store all of his toys. We are currently renting our house, and looking to hopefully buy this year. In March we also enjoyed a family staycation at Hotel Van Zandt in downtown Austin.

APRIL

In April I began producing more fashion content than ever. It was so much easier since Noah was finally about weaned from breastfeeding and I wasn’t needed at all times, LOL. Breastfeeding can be a part-time job! I worked more with a photographer in Austin so that I could get out and get the photos I needed, and Dylan could stay home with Noah. I focused on getting more blog posts up a week, and created a consistent content plan for my blog and Instagram.

MAY

In May I celebrated my second Mother’s day as a mom. We had friends over and feasted over a delicious meal. I also had the opportunity to introduce more home decor content in my blog, since I was finally out of an apartment! I really loved being able to share this with you guys, and I hope to do even more of it in 2017. In May I also decided to quit my regular full-time consulting gig in Affiliate Marketing and dove head first into the world of full-time blogging.

JUNE

In June we celebrated our 6 year wedding anniversary with a spontaneous little staycation in Austin, while my sister watched Noah. It was our first time being away from him overnight, and everyone survived. It was so good for us to get out on our own, and just focus on us.

JULY

In July we traveled to Malibu, CA for our friend’s wedding. It was our first time taking an official trip without Noah, and luckily we had Dylan’s mom in town to help us. In July I also started thinking heavily about adding to our family and trying for baby number 2. I started in on the convincing of Dylan, and also just spent time enjoying the summer in Austin.

AUGUST

In August I had a miscarriage. It didn’t take long from wanting to expand the family to actually getting pregnant, so I was quite shocked when it happened, and quite devastated when I miscarried. I wrote a post about overcoming miscarriage, and received a tremendous amount of support from all of you. Thanks again for that 🙂 We traveled to Indiana to visit my family, and enjoy some time on the lake.

family trip to jw marriott san antonioSEPTEMBER

In September I took a girls trip to Denver, CO to visit my best friend from college. My sister and I both went, and we had so much fun. It was nice to have some time to focus on me, and have fun. Dylan, Noah, and I also took a little trip to San Antonio as a family and stayed at the JW Marriott. We filmed our first vlog as a family, and had a lot of fun.

OCTOBER

In October I was working a ton. I remember planning out all of my content for October in September and realizing just how crazy the month was going to be. Although I was extremley busy, I was feeling very happy about my decision to go into blogging full time. It was the right decision, at just the right time. We also were really excited to partner with Skinny Pop and HomeAway, and attend Austin City Limits.

NOVEMBER

In November we had the opportunity to partner with The Royal Caribbean and take a cruise to the Bahamas. We had so much fun on that trip and covered it via social media. I’m actually prepping the blog review to go live in early January. I was able to meet some bloggers in person who I had been following for a long time, so it was a lot of fun.

Christmas Tree At Home StoresDECEMBER

In December we were able to visit with family in Indiana and celebrate the holidays. We also had our first ever Christmas morning at home just the three of us. My sister and her boyfriend joined not too long after we opened presents as a family. Noah loved every minute of Christmas day, and it just made me that much more excited for future Christmases with him.

2016 was one for the books. It was truly an incredible year. I wanted to thank each and every one of you for supporting me, and this little blog of mine. I wouldn’t be able to pursue my dream of blogging full time if it wasn’t for you. Thanks for all of your sweet comments, and for following along with me on this journey. Cheers to an amazing 2017!
