Our New Bedtime Routine

We are excited to celebrate a new book release from the creator of Goodnight Moon thanks to our sponsor HarperCollins!

Since Emma was born, our bedtime routine has switched a bit. If I’m home alone, I have to figure out what to do with Emma while taking Noah to bed. Luckily I’ve only been alone at bedtime a couple of nights so far. Before Emma was born, sometimes both Dylan and myself would go up to put Noah to bed. But most times just one of us puts him to bed.

Recently, Noah’s bedtime routine has included reading one or two stories. I have been looking forward to the day when he actually likes to read stories. We did a lot of picture books before counting ABC’s and numbers. Now he’s really into story books, which I’m so excited about. I have been looking forward to this for awhile, because I love reading to him. You probably don’t know this, but when I was a senior in high school I had my heart set on being a teacher. I was part of a program where I spent the morning in a kindergarten classroom, and I loved reading to the kids.

Goodnight Moon became a bed-time favorite a few months ago, so I was so excited when I had the opportunity to partner up with HarperCollins to celebrate a new padded board book edition AND a newly released book from the same author, Margaret Wise Brown. The new version of Goodnight Moon is so perfect. He can hold it himself and it still features those classic Clement Hurd illustrations.

We also introduced Noah to the previously unpublished companion book from Margaret Wise Brown, Good Day, Good Night. He loves it! The illustrations by Loren Long are gorgeous, and he loves the story. He even adds his own commentary, ha. I just love when he adds his own twist to stories, it’s the absolute cutest. (Get a sneak peek at the book by watching the adorable book trailer HERE)

Another thing we do right before bed is talk about our day. We talk about all of the things that we did, and we always talk about the things we are going to do tomorrow. The book Good Day, Good Night really coincides with what we already talk about every night, so it’s really sweet. (Have some extra fun with the book by trying out these activity sheets from the publisher! You could win these in an event kit with books and bunny rattle below!

Also, do you see how Noah clearly has an awesome car bed!? Well, would you believe that he prefers to sleep on the floor!? If you have any tips on getting your toddler to sleep in their bed, let me know, lol! He loves his bed, but for some reason he prefers to sleep on the floor! No clue why! Toddlers keep you on your toes, that’s for sure!

Now for a fun giveaway! Do you want a copy of Good Day, Good Night? Thanks to the publisher, I’m giving away Good Day, Good Night plus the new Goodnight Moon padded board book, PLUS an adorable bunny rattle from Kids Preferred, and an event kit from HarperCollins. Enter via the Rafflecopter below!

My oldest son (2) has a fairly easy bed routine. We play a little basketball in the living room, read a million books, then I sing and pray with him and he goes to sleep:) love any sweet book we can read together!

We feed her, snuggle, and read a story. She’s still a baby so there’s not too much we can do together yet! lol
