Celebrating Noah’s Second Birthday
My baby is officially two. His birthday was on the 21st. I was literally crying the night before because I was worried I wouldn’t be able to get out of bed for his birthday. I had been sick for almost two weeks, and I had just started antibiotics for a sinus infection. I just felt bummed, like I was a bad mom for not having everything together. The house was a mess, literally a pile of tissues resembled a mountain laying next to my bed, and I hadn’t been dressed in days.
Somehow when I woke up on the morning of his birthday I trudged myself into the shower, got ready, and headed out for a fun day (like we had planned on doing before this crazy sickness). We headed to The Thinkery here in Austin for Baby Bloomers. It’s a special time at the museum where it’s just open to kids under 3. Noah had so much fun. Dylan was in charge of chasing him around, while I took it easy. I was feeling so sick, but was so happy I made it out to do something fun for him.
After we left The Thinkery we went to Phils Ice House and Amy’s Ice Cream. It’s a great little spot for toddlers in Austin. They have multiple locations, and the one we went to on South Lamar has a park in the back for kids to play on after they eat. We ordered burgers, fries, and Noah had an ice cream sundae for dessert. I was struggling with the sinus infection, so we decided to head home. Noah was getting tired too. Noah went down for a long nap, and then Dylan went to the gym. I got a call from Dylan while he was at the gym. “I sprained my ankle”, he told me. If you know Dylan, it typically isn’t a holiday unless he gets hurt. We sort of have a running joke about this in our family. He actually sliced part of his finger off a couple of days before our wedding in Jamaica… I’ll have to tell you guys more about that story later.
So Dylan came home and layed on the couch with a messed up ankle, while Noah and I played with toys on the floor next to him. We bought Noah an adorable plush Elmo stuffed animal, since he loves to say “Elmo!” lately. We also got him some other Elmo stuff like books and other toys. My parents arrived that evening, and he was pretty excited the next day because they brought him this car that he loved when he was at another two year old birthday party! I had sent them a picture of Noah in the car and told them how obsessed with it he was, so they brought it with them in the back of their SUV all the way from Indiana! They also got him this kitchen, which I’m so excited to get put together for him! I think I get as excited for his new toys as he does, ha!
It may have not been a “pinterest-worthy” birthday party, but it was perfect to me. Noah was so happy all day long, and we got to spend some fun quality time together as a family. Even though I was sick, I was happy I was able to pull it together and give Noah a fun birthday. Now I think I’ll go cry my eyes out realizing that my baby is no longer a baby anymore.
Thanks so much for stopping by today friends!
XO,
Lee Anne
