I receive a lot of comments over on Instagram like “You rock basics so well!” or “You pick the best casual pieces.” It makes me stop and think; wow I do wear A LOT of basics. Honestly, I like to be comfortable, and I like to be able to mix & match my pieces. When you buy great basics you can easily wear them over and over again, and pair them with multiple items in your wardrobe.
Plus, as a busy, working mom, I just don’t have time for complicated clothing. I tried to step out of my basics comfort zone the other day. I bought a dress with the most confusing slips/straps ever. I literally could not get it on. No joke, I tried to put it on 3 times, and gave up. My arms actually hurt from trying to wrangle them through the confusing straps. Obviously I didn’t buy the dress. If I can’t even figure it out how to put it on, it’s not coming home with me!
Today I’m sharing Three Must Have Basics for Spring! I’m actually wearing all three of the basics in today’s look! Woo hoo! These three items are uh-mazing, and I’m going into a bit more detail about each below
COMFY TANK OR TSHIRT DRESS
I’m all about comfy dresses right now. They are just so easy for Spring, and also for a growing bump, ha! I went into Nordstrom the other day, and left with 4 dresses. No shirts, or pants in sight. The dress I’m wearing in this post is as soft as my favorite pink bed sheets I used in college (Dylan used to make fun of me for my bright pink bed sheets in college, but I’m telling you they were the coziest things ever). The fact that this dress reminds me of those favorite sheets, has pockets, and is $34, makes it a no-brainer!
SLIP ON MULES
Slip on mules are sneaky little gems. They make you look so stylish, but they are the easiest things ever to wear. You just slip them on, and automatically you look chic. They are so quick & easy, that they’ve quickly become one of my favorite shoes for Spring. There are so many great styles right now, but the ones I always wear are by Vince Camuto. I wanted a simple black pair that I could wear with everything. I also have this pair in white, but I accidentally bought them too big, and need to exchange for a difference size. They are SO comfy, but make sure to size down about a half size. Now that I have a couple simple colors, I’m eyeing them in more colors, and patterns!
I’m having a major moment with duster coats right now. I love layering them over dresses, shorts & tees, or skinny jeans and tops. I like how they create multiple lengths within the same look. I love this one that I picked up from Nordstrom (it’s under $50 and the olive color goes with everything!). I also love this one that I’ve been wearing over dresses recently. It instantly dresses up any outfit!
