Three Ways I’m Practicing Self Care In 2019

Garmin Vivomove HRHappy weekend friends! Sitting here on a rainy morning, writing this blog post. Somehow Emma is still sleeping, and Noah and Dylan are making bacon. It’s been randomly really cold in Austin lately, and somehow I’m still managing to stick to my new self care routine.

In 2018 I was a bit of a workaholic/mombie practicing about zero self care. I was still learning how to balance this whole blogging life with being a mom of two. My blog grew a lot in 2018, and I was finding myself more and more motivated to work longer hours (which meant about zero hours a day for self care).

When it comes to blogging, I’m a bit of an overachiever. I want to do ALL of the things. Write blog posts, create Youtube Videos, share 2 Instagram posts a day, share unique Instagram stories content daily, collaborate with other bloggers, and even start new hustles like Beautycounter, Young Living, etc…

I decided that no matter how busy I was in 2019, I was going to slow down when possible, and practice some self care. I decided that I was going to eat healthier, get back to working out, and find time to do small things for myself (like get my nails done, go to more girls nights, and do fun face masks). I wasn’t going to make this crazy huge resolution, but my plan was to make small steps to get there.

Okay… this is where we can jump into the three ways in which I’m practicing self care in 2019. We are only in the second week of February, and I’ve already noticed a HUGE difference in my overall mindset, body, and daily schedule.

#1 MOVE MY BODY EVERYDAY

This has been HUGE for me. I joined Orange Theory recently, and go about 3 times a week. On the days when I’m not at Orange Theory my goal is to still move my body. And I’ll be the first to admit, that I need a reminder to get moving on my days away from the gym.

This is where my new Garmin Vivimove HR is a lifesaver. I will admit that for years I didn’t want to use a smart watch. My husband always wears one, but I just didn’t like the look of his. He bought me a similar one, and it was purple. I NEVER wear purple, lol. Plus I just didn’t like the wristband, or the face. I didn’t see it as something I would wear on the daily. This may sound silly, but as a blogger, I didn’t want the watch in all of my photos. It just didn’t look like a cute accessory.

Here’s where the Garmin Vivomove HR basically knocks it out of the park… It is ADORABLE. It looks exactly like a watch I have and love from years ago. The colors are my absolute favorite. You can never go wrong with rose gold & grey. I never thought I would be one to get into a smart watch, but now I’m hooked. A feature I really love is that it tracks my stress level. I tend to get stressed out easily, and being able to check my watch to see my levels, makes me stop and think for a minute. Monitoring my stress levels helps me know when I should pause, and take a few deep breaths.

My exact model of watch is on sale from now until February 16th if you’re thinking of getting a smart watch, or switching yours out to one that is fashionable and that you will actually want to wear everyday. Click on any of the links below to shop the different color options!

#2 MAKE EATING HEALTHY EASIER

Somehow wearing my Garmin watch, makes me want to eat healthier too. For some reason it feels like a constant reminder to make healthier choices. Recently I started meal prepping my breakfasts which has been huge for me. It’s been a small step, that’s given me so much more time in the morning.

Making eggs every single morning takes me about 15 minutes when I add clean up. Since I’ve been meal prepping my breakfasts, I can spend that 15 minutes with the kids instead of cooking & cleaning up the kitchen.

#3 DO SMALL THINGS FOR MYSELF

Getting this watch was a small thing for myself. Doing face masks a couple of nights a week, getting out for more girls nights, having my nails done, etc…. I try to do a small fun thing for myself each week. Scheduling girls nights ahead of time with my friends has been key. We all have busy schedules, but we all want to sneak away and enjoy girl time when we can. I can also wear my Garmin watch out for girls nights, because it’s dressy. I love that it doesn’t have to be taken off when I dress up. It literally matches my style perfectly!

How do you use your smart watch? Would love to hear in the comments below!

A big thanks to Garmin for sponsoring today’s post. All thoughts & opinions are always my own.

XO,

Lee Anne

Hey, does the watch work if pushing a stroller or cart? I had a friend that had an older Garmin watch and it didnt count steps etc when she had her hand on a stroller or cart. As a mom when I’m getting the most steps there is usually a stroller or Target cart involved! Thanks!
