Noah at One
And just like that my little man is one. I have no idea how the past year went by as quickly as it did. I had every intention of making a traditional baby book, and let’s be real, it didn’t happen. I wrote down a bunch of milestones and things that he did each month in a google doc, but a google doc isn’t all that cute. I thought this would be a good way for me to document and remember what’s going on as he continues to grow.
Sleeping: Noah has been sleeping through the night for awhile now which is a total game changer. I remember the days when I would literally get a total of 4 hours of sleep a night. I have no idea how I made it through that stage. The one interesting thing about his sleep pattern right now is that he is only taking one nap during the day. This is totally normal for a one year old, but it makes it a little harder for mama to get things done.
Eating: I’m still breastfeeding, but am working on weaning. Noah happily takes bottles and has been doing nightly bottles for awhile now. He actually asks for them (“baba, mama!”). I started weaning by switching out one breastfeeding session for a bottle at a time. We’re now up to 2-3 bottles a day depending on the day. When it comes to solid foods this kid will eat just about anything. We’ve found that he isn’t a huge fan of eggs or avocado, but he will get down on some tikka masala. Super strange, right? Who knew babies were into Indiana food? He’s also a huge fan of hummus.
Saying: “Dada” (he’s been saying this for a long time), Dad’s get all the glory, ha! “Baba”- when he’s tired and wants his bed-time bottle. “Mama”- sometimes when he is saying baba. “U”p- when he wants food. I think he says this because I used to always say “Up” when I put him in his high chair to eat.
Favorite Things: He loves when we play his favorite songs. He begins to dance right away. He’s a huge fan of the TV show Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood and quickly crawls to the nearest table so he can pull himself up to dance to the intro song. He loves playing with this little play keyboard that my brother and sister-in-law got him for Christmas. He types on the keys like they are laptop keys. I think he gets jealous that he doesn’t have a Macbook so he has to make use with what he has.
Milestones: He’s able to stand on his own in the middle of the room now. He is so pleased with himself when he does this that he smiles and screams in delight as soon as he does it. He then gets so excited that he loses his balance. When he concentrates he can balance for a long time. It’s so darn cute. He’s so close to walking. It’s going to happen soon, and we are not ready, ha!
Sweet Things: The huge smile on his face when I go get him in the morning. The way he chases after me when I leave the room. His infections laugh. When I’m laying on the floor and he comes up to me and tries to cuddle. The fact that Dylan and I literally miss him when he goes to sleep at night so we pull up videos and pictures from the day and go through them together.
First year goes so fast and those little ones learn so much. Enjoy.
It sure does, thanks Candy!
So cute! I have found that the first year seemed to go at a normal pace, but my son turned 1 six months ago. I just can’t wrap my head around how quickly that went.
he is so cute! I loved reading this little recap about him!
Aw, so precious. I always loved how excited mine used to get when I would get them out of their crib. Such a sweet time when they are 1, enjoy every minute! 🙂
Awe. He’s so cute! Happy Birthday! I loved reading all the things he’s up to and things he loves right now.
Awww man! This brings back so many memories of when my son was that age. Noah sounds like a delight!
