3 Things I’ll Do Differently The Second Time Around

the second time around IMG_3351the second time around IMG_3372 I was kind of a nervous wreck when Noah was born. It took me awhile to gain confidence that I was doing a good job as a mom, and that I just needed to chill the heck out. The amount of pressure you feel as a new mom can be a tad ridiculous, so no matter what stage of motherhood you are in give yourself a pat on the back. You’re doing an amazing job. That being said, when we do have another baby someday there are quite a few things that I’ll do differently the second time around.

Not Freak Out About A “Birth Plan”

I never had a birth plan with Noah, but I had a general idea in my head of how I wanted things to go down in the delivery room. I liked to think I would have some control over the situation, but really little Noah was the one in control of when he was making his appearance. The second time around I will take a deep breath and just realize that things happen how they are supposed to happen.

Sleep When The Baby Sleeps

Would you believe I didn’t do this? I think I was so stressed out thinking I was doing everything wrong that I literally could not nap during the day. It’s already somewhat hard for me to nap, but I was surviving on 3-4 hours of sleep a night. The second time around I will be napping every chance I get during the newborn stage.

Use The Owlet Baby Monitor

You better believe it. I have so many friends who used the Owlet monitor from the newborn stage on. I didn’t get a chance to test it out until recently with Noah. You can get a little bootie that fits up to 18 months of age, and we tried it on Noah for a nap recently, but it would have been ideal to use it during the newborn stage. He’s way out of the newborn stage now, which is the time when the Owlet is most needed.

My friends who used it during the newborn stage were so happy they did. For me those early days are all about peace of mind, and the Owlet Baby Monitor provides that peace of mind. It allows you to actually get some sleep while your baby sleeps, because you can relax knowing that the monitor is designed to alert you in oxygen or heart rate fall outside of range.

You can check the monitor directly from your smartphone. The owlet also comes with a base station that you can set right on your nightstand. The alerts go off on both your phone, and your base station. So if your phone randomly dies during the night, you have a backup.

I think I will be getting a lot more sleep the second time around. Our next bundle will be wearing an Owlet bootie from day one. Have you tried out the Owlet? I’m excited to tell you that Owlet is offering my readers $20 off of their own Owlet Monitor. Click HERE to get yours!

What things did you do differently or plan to do differently the second time around? Feel free to leave them in the comments!

Yesss, we never quite be prepared for motherhood. I also had a birthing plan but didn’t stress myself out over sticking with it or not. And, having a monitor is a must.

Seems like no one can ever fully be prepared for the unexpected days of motherhood, but it’s awesome to have input from friends like you who can be an encouragement. MUAH!!!!!

Good luck napping when you already have another child. It’s hard to sleep when the newborn sleeps because you have another one who is up!
