3 Of My Favorite Spots in Downtown Austin, Texas
It will officially be 4 years since we moved to Austin in July. I can’t believe it’s been that long! Our first two years were spent living downtown. We explored a lot during those years, so I feel like we really got to know the city. Since we’ve moved further from downtown, we find ourselves frequenting the same spots downtown that we used to go to on a daily basis.
Now that we have a little man in tow, it takes a bit longer to pack up. I’m excited to be partnering with Baby Jogger to review the City Select Lux Stroller. I’m so pumped because it also converts to a double stroller, so we can use it when baby girl arrives. It folds up easy, has plenty of room for storage, and is very well made. It will last for years! I love it in all black because I can use it for Noah or for little girl on the way.
Now, for my favorite spots!
Farmers Market/Courthouse Area: We love the Saturday Farmer’s market downtown. Living in Portland, OR after college we got really addicted to the farmers market. Although Austin’s farmers market doesn’t come close to Portland’s, it’s still a fun place to go on the weekend. We like to grab fresh veggies and use them in whatever we are cooking that weekend. Noah loves getting the pastries, and we also love the tamales! We love the coffee shop, Juan Pelota, which is right nearby. Their lattes are SO good, and we shoot a lot of our blog photos in that area.
Lady Bird Hike & Bike Trail: Hands down my favorite place to take a walk or run downtown. Noah also loves walking on the trail. It’s so cute, he tries to keep up with the runners, ha. When he gets tired we just pop him back in the stroller. We used to walk right to the trail from our condo downtown, but now that we drive we find a parking spot on the trail.
Whole Foods on 5th & Lamar: Literally where my entire paycheck went when we first moved to Austin. We lived within walking distance, and it was dangerous. Whole Foods is actually headquartered in Austin, so the store downtown is unlike any other Whole Foods around the country. It has a ton of speciality areas inside like a sushi restaurant, coffee bar, fresh juice/smoothie bar, sit-down restaurant, the best barbecue stand in downtown, and a wine/beer bar. Whenever I go to the Whole Foods downtown I’m instantly flooded with memories of just moving here, and also memories of being pregnant with Noah.
