Starting Solids

starting solids

This little guy. I cannot imagine life without him. He’s developed such a personality over the last month & I can’t believe he is already 8 months old. Over the past month he’s started sitting up on his own, is crawling everywhere, and is starting to eat more solids. They say 6 months is when you should start introducing solids to your baby so we we’re pretty pumped to get him in a high chair and get him started right away. He wasn’t really interested in solids until this past month though. I tried a few times because I was so excited for him, but he just wasn’t having it! It’s hilarious to watch him eat. He makes some pretty interesting faces during his first few bites of a new food.

So far his favorite foods are rice cereal, oatmeal cereal, bananas, and chicken. We tried avocado, pears, carrots, and prunes right away at 6 months and he hated them all. I’m planning on giving them another go around in the next few weeks!

I am so in love with the Nuna Zaaz Convertible Highchair. I love that you can adjust the height of the chair so you are able to pull your little one right up to the table with you. I’m also a big fan of how comfortable the seat is and how easy the entire chair is to clean off. Noah even likes to just sit in it and play with toys or look at a book. Oh and how adorable are his pajamas? I got them from Wynn Ruby, an awesome online store. The print is really unique and they are so cozy.

How was starting solids for your little one? Were they interested right away? Have any good recipes for when he gets a bit older? I’m thinking he is going to be into savory foods from the way he was devouring his chicken the other day!

Wow! Crawling! Watch out – once they can get around on their own they get up to all sorts! Super cute though 🙂

My daughter just spit everything out for the first few days but it got way better! Now she eats pretty much everything except rice cereal. Once he realizes how much fun the new tastes and textures can be I’m sure he will be more inclined!

We have a 2 month old right now but we also have 2 older kids. Introducing solids is one of my favorite things to do when they start to get older. PS I’m so glad I read this article because I need a new high chair!

Your little man is adorable! We did baby led weaning – didn’t do any purees to start, just super soft foods. Started with avocado, roasted sweet potatoes, and really mushy steamed broccoli. Good luck starting solids – I love that stage!!!

We did Baby Led Weaning as well. Are you aware of the Whiteout Campaign by Dr. Greene? You might like. http://www.drgreene.com/whiteout-faq/
