5 Tips For Working At Home With A Baby
My little guy turned one last month. And with turning one, he decided that it would be a good time to start taking one nap a day. Nap time is usually crunch time. It’s an uninterrupted 1.5- to 2-hour stretch of pure concentration. I’m usually able to knock out quite a bit of work in that time, so when he decided to only take one nap a day, I started to freak out a little. When it comes to parenting, I’ve learned to roll with the punches and adapt to whatever change my little guy is going through at the time. Here are some tips that have gotten me through these first few weeks of one nap.
- Only keep a few toys out. If I put all of his toys out, he easily becomes bored with them. If I hide some in another room, and then bring them out, it’s like he has brand-new toys again.
Set your desk up in the main living area. This one isn’t always the most ideal, but it works the best. I have my main desk in the office area, but I always set up shop at the dining table so I can watch him while he plays. When I’m working nearby, I can still talk to him, smile at him and jump on the floor for a quick cuddle session. - When the baby is napping, you better be crunching. Seriously, don’t take a nap or watch TV. Get yourself laser-focused and get to work. Nap time is crunch time, and if you miss out on getting work done during nap time, you aren’t going to be too happy about it later.

Ha! Love the tip about slowly taking out the toys. It’s so true. Each time you introduce a new toy..it’s like setting the clock back! 🙂
