Stuff Real Moms Do
One of my least favorite things about blogging is that it makes it seem like life is perfect. Bloggers aren’t perfect, and life is messy for everyone. So while you’re reading those pretty blogs with the high-quality, glossy photos, just know that there’s probably a pile of dirty laundry on the floor in the corner, at least in my case there is.
Today I’m chatting about stuff real moms do. You know what I’m talking about here. Sneaking away in the pantry to chow down on your toddler’s snacks while they aren’t looking. This is just one of the things I’m guilty of. Let’s dive into some more stuff real moms do.
- Look at the clock and count down the hours until bedtime. This doesn’t happen everyday, obviously, I do love my child.. But on those exhausting days, when you just want to lay on the couch and binge out on some Netflix after a long day of work or literally pass out in your bed from not sleeping the night before, you might take a few peeps at the clock and start to count. Am I right?
- Steal your kid’s snacks. I know we’ve touched on this already, but why are their snacks so dang good? Give me all the Annie’s Cheddar Bunnies please!
- Hide your phone. I literally have to hide my phone behind my knees while I’m using it sometimes. Noah is obsessed with my phone, and always wants to play with it. This is totally my fault because I give in and let him play with my phone. Sometimes I’m strong and say no, but other times I give in and let him watch a couple of Youtube videos. You can imagine how stressful this can be when a lot of my work is done from my phone.
- Shave half of their legs. It’s winter, right? No one really sees anything above the knee. Sometimes the bottom half is all I have time for.
- Paint one fingernail for Instagram. This might be more prevalent to blogging moms, but it’s pretty hilarious. Anyone else totally guilty of this? This is pretty embarrassing, but I’ll be the first to admit that I’ve done this. I’m pretty sure that my thumb was the only fingernail painted in this photo . Time is of the essence my friends.
- Put their little ones to bed, and then automatically miss them. Wait, what? I was just counting down the hours until they would go to sleep, and now I’m missing them? #MomLife, it’s crazy.
What are some funny things that you do as a mom? Would love to hear in the comments! Thanks so much for reading you guys, have an awesome day!

Lee Anne

Such a cute post! I am loving those Adidas leggings on you! xo, Nataly
LOL I can’t wait to do all this “stuff” when I have kids too!
I like kids sweets too and I’m not even a mom!
I do have to put my phone away at parties where children are present or they’ll constantly be pushing all the buttons.
PS: I noticed two spelling mistakes, whoops!
1.”This doesn’t happy every day”
2. No one really seems anything above the knee”
Yup! Pretty much yes to alllll of these lol. Mom life lol. I cannot WAIT until I put her to sleep so I can relax, but then I miss her and look at the monitor of her sleeping. So insane lol.
This list is so true! When I visit my nieces and nephew, I always have to hide my phone 😉

Yaaasss! I am so guilty of 1, 4 and 6. And then I’m like well I put them to bed, why do I miss them so much now lol. Mom life! Loved this post!
So much truth! Doesn’t that hour before bedtime seem like the longest hour of your life???
Yessss, hahaha!
I totally relate to all of the above! In fact, this morning, I have been counting down till nap time! haha
the fingernail one!! that made me lol! some mornings, i start counting down the hours until bedtime at about 10am. no more nap time in this house, so it’s the first “real” break i get all day…
OMG this is all so true!! I love the nail painting one!! Been there!! LOL
This is too funny! I love reading real life posts like this!

Lee Anne I am reading your blog tonight while putting my baby girl down and loving what you wrote. I have her and the bottle in one hand and my phone in the other. Tonight was one of those nights because I’m pregnant and starving lol but when she is asleep I will miss her. Always enjoy your style and blogs!
Awe thanks so much Laura. I love to hear that you read my blog 🙂 And I had no idea you were pregnant, congratulations!!
Such a fun post! Love your honesty and openness about real life. So good,..sometimes looking at gorg shots all day can make you lose a grip on the reality. No kiddos yet, fun to hear mom’s be vulnerable.
Ha! I totally agree! I have painted my nails quickly before taking a picture too….and they were still wet when I took the picture!
These are all so true! I know I am guilty of doing all of these. Being a mom is great but it is funny how much life changes even (like how going to the store after your child’s bedtime is like a mini vacation). Thank you for sharing this!
Haha yes I do all of these things! I love hearing when other mothers do this too. Especially counting the hours to bedtime and then missing them. Love this post!
This post is so funny and true!! Just wait until you have a teenager and have to start “hiding” the “good food.” Otherwise, you won’t get any of it. Lol!!
You’re totally right. The blogging world has a tendency to appear perfect but everything is far from it!! I have no kids but I know how it can be wishing the day to be over!!
Haha, this was so cute! I definitely stare at the clock and I swear I have trouble losing weight b/c I probably eat more gold fish than my kids!!

Love this #REALTALK post haha. I can only imagine…
such a cute post!!! One of the greatest adventures in life for sure!
I love this because I completely agree with every thing you said. I always count down the hours (then minutes) until bedtime, and then immediately miss her the second she’s in her crib and stare at her on the monitor and watch videos of her on my phone.
Haha, the finger nail comment was hilarious.
Haha that painting the one fingernail made me lol!!
